Brick, steel, saltwater....and ghosts.
I was a war baby.
My father worked at "The Navy Yard."
Not this one. Philadelphia.
When I walk around here the past is close.
Steam power, high voltage, drop forge.
Machinists, carpenters, fitters.
The Missouri, the Arizona, the Brooklyn.
Gantry cranes, Morgan Engineering, 25 tons1901
I know about that dipole antenna, now stripped,
for reaching ships at sea.
I want to make art out of all this, somehow.
Here is a start.
